Week 12

What with it being Spring Break, I didn't really need to work on anything specifically for this module. However, me being me, I always try to push myself further as an artist. So with this in mind I decided to look into Blender, as i'm aware that once I leave University, my access to Maya will be cancelled until I am in industry.

"[Blender] is free, and it is actually becoming almost an industry standard in its own right.'

- Andrew Price (Blender Guru), 2020

I went to YouTube and found the Blender Donut tutorial, which is supposedly the first port of call for all artists starting to look into Blender.

Following the first two parts of the tutorial, I managed to create a donut, fully rendered and to a semi-decent standard that I am relatively proud of.

Solid Colour

Lighting Setup

Material Pass

Added Distribution Modifier

Displacement Node and Texture Painting

Blender as a software is fast growing on me, and I plan on pursuing this further during the summer, especially using modifiers without having to use a tutorial which is the only problem I have while using the software.

Due to the semester being close to done, the rest of my time will be spent working on Journeyman. So this will be my last weekly blog post.
