Week 4 Lab Tasks - Time Management and Branding

Professional development task 1:

"Time to get your online portfolio up and running, and start to structure your content. Do you need any branding materials? Logo? Colourscheme?"

As it is, I already have an Artstation account that I've been uploading to for around three years now. I looked it over and (as advised by my lecturer) updated the four assets' captions that I reflected on in week 2.

I decided on a grey colour scheme, as I feel it gives a neutral background that really helps my assets pop without being too bland (white or black I find to be too overwhelming to the eye).

As such I also removed two assets that were purely texturing work (my version of the robot assigned to us in 'Introduction to Texturing' in first year of university), not because it's not relevant but because, quite simply, I am able to do better and am not particularly proud of the work I made at the time. The entire module was a nightmare from start to finish, and I don't want that to be the basis of any jobs I could potentially get.

I also already have a professional Instagram, Linkedin and Twitter, allof which containing the same information as my Artstation. One of my assets has even been liked on twitter by the creator of the source material (ND Stevenson, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, 2018 - 2020).

I plan on having a large social media presence, so no matter what method potential employers may use, i'll have a chance of being found / looked at.

Professional development task 2:

"Break down the deliverables for the ICA into a list of tasks. Use the chart to help you plan out your remaining tasks in order of importance. Using that list, create a cascading diagram showing when each task needs to be completed"

Task List:

Casdading Schedule:

Summary:

As you can see from the chart, I am a fast worker, and I know I am. As such, I am on track, with plans to move into engine from week 5 onwards. All assets are textured and ready to go (sans the butterfly) and butterfly wings, which I plan to spend time on, learning how to create alpha channel maps for implementation within a game engine.

I do plan on continuing my professional development after my initial diorama is made, by completing tutorials from Youtube to aid my transition into Unreal Engine and (possibly) Blender 3.0
